“Five O’Clock on the Beach” 2017 Buffett Tailgate Event

“Five O’Clock on the Beach” and Fisher House Fundraiser

After two days of fundraising activity, we raised $5000 for the Fisher House Hawaii!!

We would like to take the time to thank everyone for a successful fundraiser at our “Five O’clock on the Beach” event, especially Scotty Bryan, for providing great music and atmosphere!!

Our festivities started on Friday night, with the ”Margaritaville Night” Pre-Pre-Concert Party, at the U.S. Coast Guard Hideaway Club at Barber’s Point!!

We had great participation from many of our visiting “members at large”, so we arranged a Party Bus to pick them up and return them back to Waikiki.  Dino, aka, “The Bus Driver”, from PartyBus808, arrived promptly at 8 PM, however it took us nearly 20 minutes, just to get them off the bus!!  This bus had adult beverages, awesome tunes, and stripper poles!!, (which evidently resulted in some highly coveted photos!).  Dino asks the Party Bus riders to leave him a review on yelp at https://www.yelp.com/biz/party-bus-808-waipahu, if you would.  You can also visit https://www.partybus808.com/ to meet your transportation/party needs anytime you are visiting the island!!

We spent the evening dancing and singing to our favorite music, giving away raffles, ending with the grand raffle prize of an authentic Margaritaville Bike, donated by Halawa/Waipahu U-Haul.  Gary and Alison Trewin, (Aussie Club Members at Large) were the winners!!  After a victory lap around the parking lot and deciding the trip home would be too tiring on his new mode of transportation, Gary donated the Margaritaville Bike back to be auctioned at the Pre-Concert Party at Tiki’s. (What a guy!!)  We finished out the night well past midnight departure time to get our visiting Waikiki dwellers home.  Finally getting them on the Party Bus at 12:45, the hardest of the hardcore were happily snoozing on the trip home!!

We would like to thank Club Manager Randy and Bartenders Lisa and Tara for their hard work, to make the Hideaway Club’s Margaritaville Night a great success!

The festivities (and fundraising) continued on Saturday at our “Five O’clock on the Beach” at Tiki’s Grill & Bar in Waikiki!!

Scotty kicked us off with a set of Trop Rock that set the tone for the rest of the day!!  Heads were turning and the murmurs could be heard by the lunch crowd at Tiki’s… “What the heck is going on here?”  As the ParrotHeads from far and wide, dressed in a wide variety of celebratory attire, phlocked to the lanai to drink, sing, drink, dance, drink, and party (did I mention drink?).  You can see some of them online at http://www.staradvertiser.com/2017/11/06/tgif/tgif-photos/parrot-heads-paradise/.

We really want to thank  the great Staff (Jenni, Jennifer, Bartenders and Servers) at Tiki’s Grill & Bar for the use of their lanai and great service, although we may have got them in a little trouble with the hotel management.

We especially wish to extend a special thanks to “DJ” the Tiki’s “Manager at Large”  that afternoon!!!  Having a true understanding of the “unique” clientele from his days in Key West, “DJ” was as patient and professional as they come!!  Although we had to shut down for a short “music/noise hiatus”, we were up and running full speed, until it was time to head to the concert.

We had three live auctions!!

  • First was for an original Margaritiaville Bike, which was actually a raffle prize from the Pre-Pre-Concert Party donated back by Gary Trewin.  This bike auctioned at a remarkable $415 to one of our visiting members from Austin, Texas!

  • Next was the original “Jimmy Buffett ant the Beachcomber” sign, with “Parrothead Red” bidding a generous $850 donation to the cause, and claiming a wonderful piece of Jimmy memorabilia.

  • Last was the Parrot Head Bench (with Fins to the Left and Right!) closing out the festivities, before our music hiatus.  This wonderful keepsake, donated back to the cause by our own Lee Walters, (who bought this earlier in the year), not only brought in an additional $500 for Fisher House Hawaii, but was a centerpiece of a multitude of photos for the guests!!

The Pau Hana Parrotheads sincerely wish to thank the following companies for their generous donations:

Buca de Beppo Restaurant

Big City Diner

Bravos

Buffalo Wild Wings

Cheesecake Factory

Consolidated Theaters (Ward)

Dave & Busters

Hale Ikena (Bart Perry)

Hooters

Kelly O’neils

Knead Massage Waipahu

Kona Brewing Company

POP Fishing Supply

Roy’s Kapolei

Lastly, we want to thank everyone again for their generosity and great attitude as we “Partied with a Purpose” for the Fisher House Hawaii!!!
