On Saturday August 28th the Pau Hana Parrot Heads gathered at their favorite PearlRidge venue the Dixie Grill Bar-B-Que and Crab Shack for the 4th Annual Summer Membership Bash. The event may have been one of the best yet…
Entertainment kicked off at 3pm with the guy’s from “Borderline” providing some of their “Feel Good” music, a great mix and Hawaiian and Local style tunes blended in with contemporary country. Probably some of the very best Ukele playing in the Islands.
At around 5:30pm the headline entertainer Mr John Friday of Bonita Springs FL took the stage. John preformed for nearly four hours non stop taking the group on a journey of his Boats, Ballads and Bullshit from the little latitudes tour. Most likely some of the very best Trop Rock to ever hit Hawaii. The show was kicked off with this hit “Rita’s Going Wild” from his latest CD “Coastal Dreamin’ “, and followed up with plenty of Buffett, Jim Morris, Jerry Jeff Walker and many other Trop Rock favorites. Crowd participation was encouraged and one of the highlights of the night happened when Colonel “Bob” from Schofield Barracks took the stage with John and did his rendition of “Margaritaville” in honor of all the Wounded Warriors the event supported.
The charity portion of the event went on throughout the night and included plenty of door and raffle prizes and a silent auction. Nearly $1000 worth of items and gift certificates were given out and a total of $1700 was raised to support the “Wounded Warriors Transition Unit” at Schofield Barracks.
Overall it was a very successful event for our small club and from the feedback we received it sounded like everyone had a really great time. We would again like to thank Patrick Dolan, Debbie Dyess and the great staff at Dixie Grill for all their support and John Friday and Borderline for the fantastic entertainment.
Aloha,
Pau Hana Parrot Heads

The Pau Hana ParrotHeads closed out the month of June with our annual spring “Duck Boat Adventure” . Twenty one Parrot Heads departed Jimmy Buffett’s at the Beachcomber on Saturday June 26th at 4:00pm. The tour took the group through the upscale neighborhoods of Kahala and Diamond Head, out to Hawaii Kai for a short cruise on Malama Bay and a stop at ChaChaCha for more “Boat Drinks” and pupus. The tour was completed with several laps around Waikiki with lots of “Buffett” and TropRock along the way. Many in the group closed out the night listening to some great live music at “JB’s at the BeachComber”. Please remember to check out our annual “End of Summer” membership party coming up this August.
Mahalo,
Pau Hana ParrotHeads
On May 30th 2010 the Pau Hana ParrotHeads gathered again at the exquisite Waikiki Yacht Club. Over twenty of our Plock showed up at this water front venue for an afternoon of conversation and great live music provided by Mr Chip Cathey and the Boardroom Boys.
The event also marked the end of former President Tommy Bullard’s term. Tommy served as President of the Pau Hana ParrotHeads from June 2006-June 2010. He did an admirable job of providing leadership for our young club. Tommy was very instrumental in the rebirth of the Chapter after it fell apart in under previous leaders in 2005. During Tommy’s time at the helm, he organized two highly successful Buffett PreConcert events at the Waikiki Elks club, with 300 plus in attendance each time. Also these events raised thousands of dollars for our local charities. As President he formed a fantastic relationship with the management of Maragaritaville and JB’s at the Beachcomber. Through these contact’s he secured VIP passes for the entire club to not one, but two spectacular live events at the restaurant. Tommy’s last major accomplishment while serving the Pau Hana ParrotHeads was the successful completion of the 503c1 paperwork and approval of the club for Federal Non-Profit status.
The Pau Hana ParrotHeads greatly appreciate all of Mr Bullard’s hard work and dedication to the chapter and presented him with a beautiful plaque set on rosewood, a Pau Hana ParrotHead hat and mouse pad. We wish Tommy the best of luck at his new assignment in Kodiak Alaska which he starts in August of this year. Hopefully we see him back here at club events quite often and look forward to his return to the Islands in several years.
As usual the Waikiki Yacht Club staff provided spectacular service and a special thanks to again to member Clay Deaver for securing this wonder venue for our club. We all had a great afternoon and will be looking forward to our next outing at this incredible local.
Please remember to sign up for our next ParrotHead outing on Saturday June 26th, the infamous “Waikiki Duck Adventure”.
Aloha

Amy Cichowski Secretary
Nelson Lampert Treasurer Volunteered to fill position since there no candidates
Board Members: Clay Deaver, Joe Crockett, Mike O’Shaughnessy and Jeff Eck
Motion made by Lee Walters to accept election results and seconded by Deane Leidholt.
New Business:
Discussion held regarding the May 30, 2010 party. Determined this would be our past Presidents recognition event. Many ideas for a gift were presented such as: a Koa Paddle, Hawaiian Shark gift and a statue made by one of our club members. Vote determined the statue would be reviewed “on-line” and a determination by vote after Board members had an opportunity to view what it would look like.
Music for the event: Lee would arrange to have Chip play for tips and Clay would arrange for Boarderline Boys to do the same. We will use an I POD for the time live music is not being played.
Venue determined by vote. Clay will arrange for us to use the Waikiki Yacht Club. It cost the club 35.00 for use of the Mauka Terrace. Dean agreed to create flyer to get to Clay to put up announcing our event at the Yacht Club. Clay will arrange for use of the Yacht club’s sound system. Mike agreed to sell merchandise during the event.
Lee purchased business cards, sellable merchandise and secretarial supplied. Board approved re-imbursement of $128.00 to Lee for those expenses. Discussed having a Banner for our club made. Tommy thought we had one and will follow up.
Lee presented a new designed for the club T-Shirts. Board voted and agreed we liked the new design as the picture on the back was much larger than in previous printings.
Lee agreed to print out an example of a “receipt” our club may present to any party making a donation to the club; such as something donated for a silent auction.
Discussion held about changing our Phlocking to Saturday. Discussion determined to try a Saturday at some point in the future.
The Board approved a “Duck Boat” trip for the June Phlocking. Lee will follow up on that.
Began discussion of the “Annual Party” to be held in Aug. 2010. Suggestions for venue: Picnic Area at the Pearl Harbor for 200.00; JB’s or Yacht Club. No determination made. We need an area that will allow us to bring in our own music, charge a slight entrance fee and provide food and beverage service.
Clay stated he was thinking of making a CD of the musicians we have play for us. Issue of Royalty Rights presented.
