On May 30th 2010 the Pau Hana ParrotHeads gathered again at the exquisite Waikiki Yacht Club. Over twenty of our Plock showed up at this water front venue for an afternoon of conversation and great live music provided by Mr Chip Cathey and the Boardroom Boys.
The event also marked the end of former President Tommy Bullard’s term. Tommy served as President of the Pau Hana ParrotHeads from June 2006-June 2010. He did an admirable job of providing leadership for our young club. Tommy was very instrumental in the rebirth of the Chapter after it fell apart in under previous leaders in 2005. During Tommy’s time at the helm, he organized two highly successful Buffett PreConcert events at the Waikiki Elks club, with 300 plus in attendance each time. Also these events raised thousands of dollars for our local charities. As President he formed a fantastic relationship with the management of Maragaritaville and JB’s at the Beachcomber. Through these contact’s he secured VIP passes for the entire club to not one, but two spectacular live events at the restaurant. Tommy’s last major accomplishment while serving the Pau Hana ParrotHeads was the successful completion of the 503c1 paperwork and approval of the club for Federal Non-Profit status.
The Pau Hana ParrotHeads greatly appreciate all of Mr Bullard’s hard work and dedication to the chapter and presented him with a beautiful plaque set on rosewood, a Pau Hana ParrotHead hat and mouse pad. We wish Tommy the best of luck at his new assignment in Kodiak Alaska which he starts in August of this year. Hopefully we see him back here at club events quite often and look forward to his return to the Islands in several years.
As usual the Waikiki Yacht Club staff provided spectacular service and a special thanks to again to member Clay Deaver for securing this wonder venue for our club. We all had a great afternoon and will be looking forward to our next outing at this incredible local.
Please remember to sign up for our next ParrotHead outing on Saturday June 26th, the infamous “Waikiki Duck Adventure”.
Aloha
